About the festival

The history
Holy Trinity Church Ripon first held the Angel Festival as part of Hope 2008 - an initiative of the churches of Britain and Ireland which helped to demonstrate Christian faith in action, and to explain the meaning of that faith in villages, towns and cities throughout the UK. Ripon Churches Together got together to plan a series of events throughout 2008 to support this campaign. As part of this, we had the idea of an angel festival - like Kettlewell's scarecrow festival, but a bit more heavenly! Over the weekend of 3-5 May 2008, our church was also open to show around 20 fabulous, often very large displays made by local schools, as well as to offer refreshments & lunch, plus activities.

What can you do?
You're invited to make your own display of one or more angels, and perhaps enter it into our competition.

Or we invite you to come and see all of the angels which have been made by the people of Ripon - why not follow a trail map, like we had in 2008?
